Bmw E46 Boot Switch Not Working. You now have a functioning internal boot/trunk release switch that is wired into the main vehicle wiring modules. I am unable to get into the boot except with the remote key fob release or with the key in the barrel. It works manual and using key fob. Noticed a problem with my boot today, it will only open by the button on the key or by putting the key in the lock, not by pressing. The switch/pad in the boot lid. I’ve had a problem with the rubber boot release handle for about 5 years now and its finally bothered me enough to try fix it. Ive check my wire it.
